Our Origin Story
For year's our community has always joined together to offer a fun evening on Oct. 31st for kids and families to "trunk-or-treat" in the school parking lot. It has been something our community has looked forward to year after year.
A couple years ago, as Turpin was recovering from the shut-down of Covid, the members of the community that normally hosted the event decided they didn't want to do the event anymore. It was a crazy time for all of us, so we said no worries! After some back and forth, our kids ministry team decided they wanted to begin hosting a glow-in-the-dark, carnival style, candy-filled event with a #morethemerrier attitude! Our fearless leader + Children's Director, Jennie Lynch, (along with our AMAZING volunteer + set up teams!) have turned what was once trunk-or-treat turned into what we know today as Candyland.
Candyland is a night where an amazing team made up of over of over 26+ volunteers host up to 20 candy, food, & games booths and an eating area themed after Candy Dots!
We celebrate with enthusiasm how sweet it is to trust in Jesus. (Keep an eye out: every booth has a scripture associated with it!)
And every single booth will GLOW for some glow-in-the-dark fun!
HOW IT WORKS:
Start at the ticket booth to grab your candy bags and booth tickets. 20 stops along the game board for kids to collect candy + prizes.... through the gumdrop path and the lollipop forest, of course! Then end the game at the hotdog stand + candy dots eating area for a night for a quick bite with the family.
Come in costume (or not)! Everyone is welcome, and sometimes even the dogs come dressed up (just make sure they're on a leash)! If you have time feel free to stick around and visit a while or take your snack with you. There's no right or wrong answer.
This is a come and go event.
